We've started some effort in the direction of remote-debug with
Firebug. Mike Collins is developing a protocol based on the Google
Chrome V8 Javascript protocol expanded to include support for all web

We have also been working toward unifying Firebug Lite and Firebug
code with the goal of increasing reuse across browsers. The unified
code base would be the basis for an remote-debug implementation of
Firebug.

The target timeframe for completing this work is whenever Firefox
moves to multiprocess. Please let us know if you'd like to help.
