I, too, am having trouble installing FB under Windows 7. For what it's worth, I am using Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I have uninstalled the .NET Assistant as per some other guides (Vista) and disabled the Foundaton extension as well. Still, I am unable to install the latest stable release of FB or any of the betas of 1.4 and 1.5.
I have tried performing my install with my AV disabled as well as a clean Windows 7 installation + Firefox in a VM with no success. By any chance are you using Windows 7 x64?
