Okay then, let's be a little more thorough:
1. Uninstall Firefox
2. Go to %AppData%\Roaming\Mozilla
3. Erase the Firefox folder
4. Download the latest version from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/upgrade.html
5. Disable your antivirus and firewall (they often cause issues when
installing extensions)
6. Install the latest Firefox
7. Open Firefox
8. Left click on this link and choose install:
http://getfirebug.com/releases/firebug/1.5X/firebug-1.5X.0b5.xpi (if
you get a warning that a site is trying to install something just
allow it)
9. After the installation restart Firefox

On any page the Firefox icon should be there in grey. Left click the
icon and Firebug should open.

Let us know if this works for you.
