Sometime after Firebug 1.5X.0b5 and forward you have statically set the font color for the menu to "black" or changed how the menu is displayed. I use the Redshift theme which is a black background with white lettering and your menu links are now "hidden" in the blackness. Firebug 1.5X.0b5 works fine but I cant upgrade until you can resolve that issue.
