Hi Bethany, 2010/2/23 Bethany <[email protected]>: > really excited to see firebug lite for chrome, would love to switch to > chrome if we can get firebug lite to be equal to firebug for firefox.
Good to know you're excited! I'm also excited about the project, but to be honest, I don't think Firebug Lite will ever be "equal to firebug for firefox". While we're planning to add JavaScript debugger features for Firebug Lite for Chrome in the future, Firefox extension system provides a lot of things that aren't currently supported in the Chrome's one. Also, Firebug team and Firefox team maintain a constant dialog, which allows some critical bugs and/or new features being fixed quickly. But we do have a lot of room for improvements in the Firebug Lite, and we'll do our best to make it even more powerful and as "equal to" Firebug for Firefox as possible. > > my biggest hurdle is a simple one.. let me try to explain it.. > > when i view a webpage on firefox, and open firebug window so that it > appears on the bottom of the browser, it essentially pushes the whole > webpage up, allowing you to scroll down to view the entire webpage if > needed. the scroll bar is above the firebug window. > > with firebug lite in chrome, when you open firebug it just opens on > top of the webpage, and you can't see any of the webpage's content > that is sitting underneath the firebug box. the scrollbar goes all > the way down through the firebug window. > This is a known issue, but unfortunately it is a limitation of the Chrome extension system: http://code.google.com/p/fbug/issues/detail?id=2827 > so you have to view firebug as a separate window which i prefer not > to do because then it gets kinda annoying when you try to select and > inspect elements and what not. You can also minimize the UI (or press F12). That way you'll "move Firebug away" from the bottom of the page. This is not the ideal solution, but is an alternative to avoid opening a new window. > > it would be great if you could fix this for firebug lite. I've posted a feature request in the Chromium issue tracker. You can star this issue to be notified when we get a feedback from the Chromium team, and also signalize that are more people interested in this issue to be fixed: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=36576 regards, Pedro Simonetti. > > thanks for your hard work! > > -- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups > "Firebug" group. > To post to this group, send email to [email protected]. > To unsubscribe from this group, send email to > [email protected]. > For more options, visit this group at > http://groups.google.com/group/firebug?hl=en. > > -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Firebug" group.
