Quick update on this: I couldn't get 1.5X.2 to get me the Firebug
Tracing Window, but I was able to get 1.6X to do it. No idea if it was
because I was running Firefox 3.5.8 or because I was on OSX or because
I was tired, but given that John Barton said I should be on 1.6X
anyway I'll be fine there.

I then was able to make a patch to NetExport that stores the active
state under the extensions.firebug.netexport.autoExportActive
preference. Hopefully I can provide a patch for this and we can get it
in to SVN?
