Currently, there is no way to do what you want. I think you are asking two different things (programatically speaking): #1 - Activate Firebug Lite for all websites. Currently we use localStorage to track whether or not Firebug is enabled. Since localStorage is tied to a domain, there's no way to activate it for all websites, but we could investigate another approach to make it possible. We could use the localStorage of the "background page" which is persistent, and domain independent, but this could potentially slow down a little bit (a few milliseconds) the browser, once we would have to do this operation for every page you visit. The current approach was designed to cause the minimum amount of operations in the "content script" to avoid slowing down the browser. Another question is where the option "Activate for all web pages" will be located in the UI? We can't use the context menu (right-click menu) in the bug icon as in Firebug, so have only 2 options as far as I can see: using the bug icon of the Firebug Lite UI (upper-left icon in the UI, next to the inspect button), or use an options page for the extension, but both solutions will require "going to another place" to first activate for all pages. #2 - Activate Firebug Lite when pressing F12. Currently, the F12 listener will be loaded only when the application is loaded, requiring you to click in the bug icon first. But we could listen to the F12 key even when the Firebug Lite is deactivated, and activate it when you press the key (as Firebug does). This seems to be easier to implement than the #1. Anyway, please file a enhancement request so it won't be forgotten: http://code.google.com/p/fbug/issues/list Put the text "enhancement: Firebug Lite" in the beginning of the summary, to make it easier for us to categorize the issue. I'll try to implement this feature in the next release. regards, Pedro Simonetti. > > - Nick > > -- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups > "Firebug" group. > To post to this group, send email to [email protected]. > To unsubscribe from this group, send email to > [email protected]. > For more options, visit this group at > http://groups.google.com/group/firebug?hl=en. > > -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Firebug" group.
