Yes. It appears 100% reliable: if I use that file, Firebug breaks; if I use
a good file (either an empty one or another that has developed in the course
of today's work), Firebug operates normally.

I thought there might be something in the file that Firebug couldn't handle,
so I tried removing about half of its contents with a text editor (being
careful to keep the contents valid). Somewhat to my surprise, Firebug worked
whichever half I removed (beginning or end).

Noting its size (8357 bytes), I began to wonder if there was an 8K limit on
the file size. Sure enough, if I reduced the file to 8192 bytes, Firebug ran
fine, but an 8193-byte file causes Firebug to stop functioning.
