It's certainly possible to style Firebug.  Install Jason Barnabe's
Stylish extension, which lets you apply arbitrary CSS to web pages and
the browser itself.  Then go to http://userstyles.org and enter
Firebug in the search box.

The NASA Night Launch or mtness styles might be things to look at for ideas.
