The test page works for me as well. However Firebug does not display the "Error count" on the add-on toolbar bottom right.
I have customized the add-on toolbar to display the Firebug icon. Firebug is turned on, the icon is coloured yet no errors are displayed. I created a quick test page, containing multiple HTML errors : http://dev.eagleworks.co.uk/firebugtest.html Firebug does not display the error count on the add on bar at all. I would upload a screenshot but my host is having ftp issues straight after I uploaded the test page.
