I just tried to install Firebug 1.8.1 from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/firebug/ into Firefox 6.0 (into a fresh new Firefox profile) and it works just fine for me. I have also tried to install Firebug from here: http://getfirebug.com/releases/firebug/1.8/firebug-1.8.1.xpi And also works for me.
