Looks like so. We don't have a save / load JS button in Firebug. What do you mean with "console box"? Do you mean the Console panel (http://getfirebug.com/wiki/index.php/Console_Panel) or the Script panel (http://getfirebug.com/wiki/index.php/Script_Panel)?
Unfortunately I don't know, which extension you could have been using. You can find a list with most extensions for Firebug at http://getfirebug.com/wiki/index.php/Firebug_Extensions. Don't you have access to your old profile anymore?
