What version of Firebug do you use? I have not experienced such problem. The current height should be stored as soon as you close Firefox. Note that it isn't stored if Firefox is not properly closed (e.g. if it crashes)
Try to reset all options: Firebug Icon Menu -> Options -> Reset All Firebug Options Or try to create a new Firefox profile. Please let us know if it helped you. Thanks!
