Install Addon Compatibility Reporter:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/
It's intended to help you test whether addons are still compatible
with new FF releases, and turns off compatibility checking.

that only helps if the add-on hasn't any technical issues for the
higher version. AFAIK with fx/tb we have some major api changes which
breaks the compatibility of FB/CB. So going back to eg. FX/TB vers 5.x
is the way to go .. I thought have to go back to vers. 3.x
