We're working hard on fixing memory leaks and increasing Firebug's performance. So as I already explained in the other thread, you can help us with finding these memory leaks by observing Firebug's behavior and answer the following questions: What exact steps in Firebug will cause an increase in memory consumption? Can the memory be freed somehow? Does the same happen, if you just install Firebug in a fresh Firefox profile (without any other extensions)?
