COMPLAINT: Long HTTP response header names (e.g., "X-ProductName-Debug- SettingName") are truncated in the Net tab Response Headers view.
Header names longer than 25 characters display as "X-ProductName-Debug- Setti..." DISCUSSION: Firebug makes more room for long header names by automatically widening the header names column a bit, but only up to 25 characters. I find this overly aggressive as long header names are then cut off needlessly. (1) Long header names are very useful during development of website software and for debug releases. During development--when Firebug is most heavily utilized--I need to see long header names more readily. (2) I am aware of the "view source" vs "pretty print" option. I would like the column maximum width slightly increased to avoid having to constantly click "view source" during debugging. (3) I am aware that Firebug displays a tooltip with the full header name if the mouse cursor is hovered. This is a great feature, yet the hover delay hampers intensive debugging. (4) A maximum width is appropriate, but just a few more characters would be wonderful. I have a large widescreen monitor with mostly lots of blank space to the right of the headers. Truncating header names should be avoided unless the names get crazy long. Longer header names are useful during development and 25 characters is a bit too restrictive. REQUEST: Increase the maximum width to 40 characters (or more). Even 32 characters would make a substantial difference in allowing descriptive header names during debugging. Alternatively, provide an adjustable and persisted width for the column. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Firebug" group.
