Interesting, but I don't fully understand you.

Do I assume correctly that this is only a problem with watches, and not 
with the auto-completion in general?

If I'm parsing this correctly, that's unrelated to auto-completion, right? 
Adding 
several watches requires a mouse-click on "Add Watch" even in Firebug 1.7, 
which didn't auto-complete watches.

What's wrong with the list of local variables that appears underneath the 
watch expressions? And do you have any suggestions for fixes that still 
keep the possibility of auto-completion?

(PS. My personal work-around for avoiding auto-completion is simply to add 
a space at the end.)
