The issue 5623 seem to imply everything is fixed regarding this. However, when I restart Firefox, Firebug's debugger and console are activated only after the page is loaded, not before, so any initialisation breakpoint isn't reached, and any initialisation logging doesn't display.

(Using 1.11.0a5)

But I'm sure I can live with that.

This behavior can be switched back to the old one <http://code.google.com/p/fbug/issues/detail?id=5623> again with some restrictions <http://code.google.com/p/fbug/issues/detail?id=5623#c9> by setting extensions.firebug.delayLoad to false.
