Did that in issue 6066 <http://code.google.com/p/fbug/issues/detail?id=6066>. This can now be changed via extensions.firebug.stringCropLength<https://getfirebug.com/wiki/index.php/Firebug_Preferences>. Setting it to 0 turns the cropping off.
