because there was no difference in behavior between new profile I tried 
about last week and my existing nicely decorated profile, I have reverted 
back to my nice comfortable old profile. this is what you see above. 

mozilla said they are leaning toward doing away with firefox -p in favor of 
a profile reset button in about:support.
