Firebug (the addon) can't be easily ported to Chrome since it's based on Firefox specific API
But there is also "Firebug Lite", which is pure web application running within a page and supporting major browsers (Firefox, Chrome, IE). https://getfirebug.com/firebuglite The problem is that we (Firebug team) don't have enough resources to support both projects and so, we focus only on Firebug (the addon).
