What version of Firefox and Firebug do you have? Have you tried to run Firebug in a new Firefox profile? https://getfirebug.com/wiki/index.php/Install_Firebug_into_a_clean_profile
I quickly tested it (Firefox 22 and 19 + Firebug 1.11) and it works for me.
