I still don't see the problem (tested also on OSX)

Can you try:
1) Install Firebug in a clean Firefox profile
https://getfirebug.com/wiki/index.php/Install_Firebug_into_a_clean_profile

2) Open this test page and follow the instructions, does it work for you?
