Hi,

I'm experiencing severe problems with Firebug, it seems that the first time
> I actually inspect a page's code with it the memory usage of my Firefox
> goes through the roof and, even though I close the inspect window
> afterwards, it seems Firebug continues to run in the background throughout
> my browsing experience from that point onwards and the memory consumption

You should follow our first aid tips <https://getfirebug.com/firstaid>. So
do you still see the problem on a fresh Firefox profile with just Firebug
installed?
Furthermore if you experience browser crashes, please report them to
Mozilla, so they can fix them.

You can turn off Firebug for all sites by right-clicking it's icon and
choosing *Clear Activation List*. Does that help?
