Sorry for the late reply.
If the display of the site actually reflects the changes you made to the 
CSS, then these changes should also be visible within Firebug. If the 
display within the browser doesn't change and the site is accessed through 
a web server or even a CMS running on a web server, then the CSS might be 
cached.
If you need a more detailed answer, then please post a URL to your site 
and/or screenshots of what you see and what you would expect to see.
