I'm concerned about backup and restore of Nokia Firewall Applicances.

If I had to rebuild a system from scratch what would I need to save? Is it
sufficient to use the Voyager Web Administration tool and do configuration
backups?

What are the steps to restore? It would seem that one needs to:

1) Get the appliance running again with the same version of the IPSO OS and FW1
software. I'm assuming that the default settings are sufficient.
2) Configure the interfaces as necessary, including any routing you may need.
3) Enable FTP access to the device.
4) Using FTP, restore to /var/backup the configuration backup file that was
created by Voyager.
5) Use Voyager and restore the backup.
6) Reboot.

Is it that easy? Will the rulebase that was in effect at the time the backup was
made be restored and operational upon the reboot?

The reason for these questions is that the documentation of this process is
scarce or non-existant. I've also seen some posts that describe some FW1
specific files (i.e. the rulebases, objects, key-files, etc.) that must be
manually backed up using a CRON'd script that runs a tar and compress operation.
Is this really necessary?

Also, if it's not too much to ask, could someone explain the use of
"configuration sets". Right now I'm running only the "initial" set. When should
one create additional configuration sets and what goes in them? Is it only IPSO
specific stuff or is FW1 info. also saved in these sets.

Thanks,
