Yes, Blocking undesirable sites is an HR issue and should not be on this
list. Even technically, it is more of a proxy issue (where most of these
products live) rather than a firewall or network security issue. Although
security policy and acceptable use policy are related, I thought this was a
technical mail list about firewalls.
I believe It is our jobs to protect our machines, our users and our data
from damages while providing connectivity to the resources they need. I am
not suggesting we become blind to social issues, but I propose moving
e-book-burning-censorship and other issues, like the ethics of port
scanning, either off-line or to another mail list.
