>From another little guy who spends a lot of time staring wide-eyed and open
jaw at the wealth of knowledge (and advice) available on this list.

I have learned a lot from you all - and I hope to overcome my new-found fear
of asking 'easy' questions. I will do this by assuming that everybody
belongs to this list to share and learn... 'cause it's free! WOW!

That is all

I saw some of the public posts, and I'm sure you got more
semi-nasty
responses privately, but I wanted to add a note. I am one of
the guys
who *does* install the firewall, and myself and others like
me have
had some bad experiences with upper management listening to
advice
from "consultants" or "auditors" who knew less than we do
about what
is going on, making our lives more difficult. So please be
as patient
with those who give you some guff as those individuals who
passed on
valuable advice were with you. (I'm saying that for my own
benefit as
much as yours; I sometimes forget that I asked the
preliminary
questions, too.) You seem like a reasonable fellow, so I
guess that
                was rhetorical, huh? :-)

I, for one, am glad that you came to the group to get
educated
answers, and I'm sure you got some great research resources
and
pointed answers to your question. Thank you for being
interested in
doing a great job. We need more like you! :-)
