Depending on the mail server software that you are using, you can implement mail relay 
filters on your email gateway to prevent mailrelay  problems.

Once you find out how to build the filter for your particular mail server sfotware, 
you basically want to accomplish the following:
1)deliver mail originating on your local networks (use IP Addresses rather than 
machine names as the machine names can be more easily forged)
2) deliver mail destined for your network
3) Junk everything else

You will want to make it more complex if you want to filter SPAM or allow for delivery 
by authenticated users...
