We have a setup like -
Mail server (Solaris 2.5.1) is directly connected to Internet and having
Solistice Firewall installed. We have permitted telnet for some and Sendmail
application for all.
Users can pop there mails only.
What we found that some user don't having the e-mail facility or having
barred for some reason, are able to telnet at port 25 (i.e. for SMTP) and
using the e-mail to and for as well.
Can any body come out to explain, how does actually it works ? what are the
ways to avoid it ?
