You may want to look at VNC, which is an open source remote control application.
It uses a single IP port (or can run over a Web session to a Java client !!)
It can be run over ssh for added security (if you can get an ssh server
running on your W95 system)
The authentication is encrypted challenge/response. You should probably
read the archives of the mailing list (which has recently been discussing
security) as part of you assessment as to whether it meets your needs.
