try nmap from:
http://www.insecure.org/nmap/index.html
it has quite an extensive list of services. (though port 1975 is
missing... on that note, son of BO is supposed to be released at DefCon in
July, I'm NOT saying that the port 1975 mystery is that, but just a
reminder that its on the way. keep an eye on http://www.cultdeadcow.com )
also try telnetting to the port in question to see what output if any
occurs.
