Beware that advice if you are in need of really strong security as it looks.

With frequency hopping praxis is again not as nice as theory. If one has
some knowledge one will have some tricks to make the hopping worthless easily.
If you use open market's tools than _do not rely on frequency hopping_ for
security reasons but instead for safety reasons only. 

As you already want to include some crypto you should rely on this heavily.
