Hi All,
I am looking at designing a project which will use an Internet site as one
of the interfaces.
The project will be done using MS DCOM/MTS architecture, and I have some
questions about security.
If I simply have an application level firewall between the internet and out
internal network (The DB will be on our internal network) and host the web
server on our internal network, am I exposed to more risks than adding
another machine between the firewall and our internal lan (as an internal
choke router) that port forwards HTTP requests only, to the Web Server
machine.
I would like to hear peoples opinions, as I have done extensive reading, and
hiding the web server on the LAN behind a port forwarding mechanism would
make for the easiest development / best performance as I will not have
traffic going between the internal DB and the external web server.
Cheers,
Greg.
