Though I have myself decided to no longer participate in that chain, there
is a relation between the two.  Port scanning is often, though not always,
a prelude to an attack.  Firewalls are designed to stop attacks.

Now, wether or not the relationship is strong enough to warrant
discussion, is largely a matter of opinion, in my opinion.

(Yes, I am being a wise-arse to some degree :)
