Hmmm well, one of the things your `herd of interconnected boxes' (hmmm) would
be useful for is as a software testbed for open source projects. I've written a
number of tools, mostly on Solaris and Linux. Since I do not have a huge
collection of boxes running a babel of operating systems, I am not able to
compile and test the stuff on anything else but Solaris, Linux, IRIX and *BSD.
If there were some site were I could go and fire up a session on Tru64, AIX,
whatnot, that would be a good thing (r). Sort of a Tinderbox for the OS
community. I'd say go for it...
