1) Read the book.
2) Develop an overall security policy for the network that is to be
firewalled.
3) Choose a platform/OS that you are familiar with.
4) Set it up OFFLINE, patch it, tripwire it, back it up in a known good
state on non-rewritable media. Then try to break into it, still OFFLINE.
5) Bring it online with no services open. Try to break into it again, and
watch others do the same.
6) Open up only the services you require.
7) Monitor it.
8) Realize steps 2-7 are in step 1.
