Hi, yes, you can use FW-1 as a transparent Proxy. Caching is not supported, afaik If FW-1 is installed correctly, it's quite secure. An advantage is the transparency, so the users don't need to configure their browsers for a proxy. User Authentication is supported, in HTTP a window pops up and the user has to authenticate. Another way is to use the session authentication. Here a client is running on the user's machine and pops up for authentication. Filtering is possible. Here I mean filtering URL's and stripping ActiveX, Java, JavaScript. In addition an Anti-Virus Check is possible (CVP or Proxy). For FTP this works also, in addition you can decide to allow/not allow FTP GET and PUT. User Authentication is a bit tricky, but works. Here a session authentication is recommended. Also for FTP there is no caching, afaik. Hope it helps a bit Best regards Matthias Leu
