4.1 is officially shipping to new FW-1 customers. Make sure you specifically
ask for 4.1 when you place a new order, however. 4.0 customers that have
current software subscriptions will be getting upgrade notices somewhere in
the Jan-March timeframe (Q1). Im also told that if you have a real reason to
upgrade to 4.1, that it might be possible to accelerate the upgrade process
and get the upgrade now. For more info, get in touch with your local Check
Point reseller. We have had 4.1 running on several different platforms
(WINNT 4.0, Solaris, Nokia) and have been very impresssed so far. 4.1 seems
to be faster, more robust, and seems to run very clean on all platforms
tested. Be forwarned, we have not heavily tested the platform yet, so dont
consider this post a total seal of approval. However, we do like what we see
so far!
