Unless I'm badly confused somewhere, that question can be reduced to:
Is x & ~240 == 15?
which I can't answer until you tell me "x", although 15 times out of 16 the
answer will be "no":-).
In other words, given a netmask of 255.255.240.0 and knowing that the first
two quads are 32.69, we have a family of 16 networks, each with their own
broadcast address:
Network: Broadcast:
32.69.0.0/20 32.69.15.255
32.69.16.0/20 32.69.31.255
32.69.32.0/20 32.69.47.255
...
32.69.208.0/20 32.69.223.255
32.69.224.0/20 32.69.239.255
32.69.240.0/20 32.69.255.255
So, for "x" in the series 15, 31, 47, ... 223, 239, 255 --- multiples of 16,
minus 1 --- the answer is yes, it's a broadcast addr, and for the remaining
values of x, like 0,1,2,...12,13,14,16,17,18 (much omitted), 252,253,254 the
answer is no.
