We have a 700+ users LAN behind a firewall. The users are introducing
network-ready "document centers" from Kodak, HP, Xerox etc. that
connects directly to the LAN and have dial-up lines for faxing. These
"document centers" are supposed to allow users to scan documents, send
and receive fax, make photocopies and share documents from their
desktop.

My questions to the folks on the list are; How secure are such devices?
Is it possible for people to get into the secured LAN through these
"document centers"? Has anybody heard of security compromise via a fax
device?

They appreciate your input. Thanks.
