I know you said *one* network adapter, but I assume you are implying that
the machine has one NIC and a modem. Is this correct? If that is, then
there is nothing special to do. Just install the thing, connect the proxy
server to the internet and then setup the clients.
That doesn't have much to do with this list, so let me ask a second question
to augment that one that is more pertinent.
Let us say that I have said machine configured as above, and that I have
port filtering enabled in NT server to allow no packets allowed save what is
necessary for the proxy server to deliver POP3, SMTP, and HTTP protocols
reliably.
How and where could I place a firewall in this configuration that would help
protect my clients? My server? Let us assume that this is providing
services to a small business of say, 10-15 workstations and that budget is a
factor. So is reliability. Does anyone have a recommendations?
