The company I work for is in the process of looking at setting up a
vpn between two offices. We've talked about several unix-based
solutions, mostly revolving around linux, buy one problem with those
is that the other office will have basically no technical people.
Because of this, we're a bit leery of administering a unix box over a
thousand miles. So, something that's supports remote administration
well, and is generally easy to administer on both ends would be
desirable.
We've come across a product by NetScreen, that seems to offer much of
what we're looking for. It provides both a command-line and web-based
configuration interface, sets up ipsec-based vpns, and also provides
remote-administration so that we can control the other end from our
office. It also provides filtering and nat services, which we
naturally want also. The box has 3 network interfaces, one for the
internal trusted net, one for the dmz, and one for the public internet
connection.
I'm in the process of looking through NetScreen's documentation, but I
wanted to ask here as well to see if anybody has had any experience,
positive or negative, with these products. Specifically, we're
considering the NetScreen-10, mostly because it fits in our price
range.
Any comments will be greatly appreciated.
