Hope it's alright if I'm not asking specific firewall questions, but it is related to security afterall. OTOH, is there a specific IDS mailing list? I thought there used to be one (some Uni org was hosting it..) but I couldn't find it anymore. :( Any pointers would be great. I'm after a good IDS product and am currently looking at ISS RS and Axent's NetProwler and IA. I would really appreciate any comments on the two products (or any others) mainly on ability to detect attacks. I have read the phrack article on defeating IDS and it was quite refreshing. But I'm sure commercial IDS have taken care of all those issues, right? Never tried out the hacks, but I'm sure some of you guys have, so any comments here would be great too. TIA. Btw, did any of you guys read the recent IDS article by Kurt Seifried on Security Portal. I quite agree with him actually, any thoughts too?
