Dear all,
This is only my second post to the group, though I read your
messages every day. The other day we were browsing some pages and
discovered that, contrary to Real Audio/Video, the Microsoft Media Player
comes through our firewall without a hitch. Alarmed and curious, finally
found some information in their pages which explained why this happens.
However there is no indication as to solutions for blocking this service.
Aside from general use policy which for now prevents the use of internet
video over our network, we have a slow link, please advise me regarding
security implications of having this service enter. The service first tries
UDP then TCP then in case these are blocked at the firewall, tries HTTP and
thus it entered our system. Thanks for any help.
