Hello, Does anyone have experience with a product called Sybergen Sygate for Home Office (formerly called SyGate)? This product is currently installed at a client's location. I would have preferred a Linux Router Project firewall instead, but this is already there. The datasheet for the product indicates that "SyGate's built-in firewall delivers enterprise-quality security to both the network and the gateway computer using its packet filtering and dynamic tunneling technology". My problem is that the datasheet does not provide ANY additional info regarding the firewall/security strength/setup etc. I am interested in your opinion of the following configuration: Win98 PC running SyGate over a dedicated xDSL connection to the Internet. All of the PCs that access the internet through this gateway are also Win95/98. The users need to access web pages and possibly passive ftp. The browsers will have Java, Javascript, and ActiveX disabled. How secure will this network be when compared to a Linux Router Project firewall? I am specifically interested in the threats from the Internet side although general comments are also welcome. Thanks, Doug - [To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe firewalls" in the body of the message.]
