I've had a crew in the field for a few years, and they are
a very unhappy bunch. The roll-your-own ISP plan gets old
very fast. Every noisy line is a late night phone call.
It's worth checking out end to end VPNs from GTE
or UUNET (or whoever services your T1), or looking at some
kind of VPN add-on for your Linux box.
