System Monitoring

hi guys,

        I would be installing some system monitoring tools for my network,
eg. BigBrother. Just wondering if there are any security issues in
implementing such monitors, eg. open ports. If you guys can help in any way
to recommend other monitoring tools , i would be most grateful. thks in
