Heheh - I went through an exercise like this a
few days ago - 'cept it was to stop certain users from visiting the softporn
sites at clubs.yahoo.com. Apart from the company having a rather
stern view concerning employees visiting "adult"sites while on the job, the
damned idiots were filling up my log files. I simply blocked all Yahoo
URLs 'cept for www.yahoo.com,
mail.yahoo.com, and one or two others that slip my mind at the
moment.

I don't think it can be as easy as blocking TCP
ports, because it can use HTTP.
I see it connecting to port 80 on
es2.yahoo.com [204.71.200.59], es7.yahoo.com
[204.71.201.128],
p7.msg.yahoo.com [204.71.202.138], and there are surely
more
servers.
It may be easier to look at the logs with a
specially written program that, say,
looks for yahoo.com and somehow
filters www.yahoo.com and mail.yahoo.com and all
of its variants, and
then finger the timewasters.
