Turns out it _was_ a UDP flood. The student's PC was compromised with
SubSeven and was being used by someone elsewhere to run what was
presumably a (d)dos against the target.

Should have been blocked by the firewall but my shop does not manage
that beast so I won't go there.

As I mentioned, if anyone would like to see sample packets let me know.
